Projector Replacement
Will a video projector be a good tv replacement?
I’m thinking of getting a video projector to replace my tv, but I’m not really sure about the pros and cons of a projectors so can you guys help me out? Also if you guys have any suggestions for projectors feel free to write them.
I have slowly but surely begun replacing all my regular TV’s with projection systems because in my opinion they are so much better. With the prices dropping as quickly as they are you can now put together a really good system including a screen for $1000 or less which is MUCH cheaper and bigger than a regular TV.
Although lighting is an issue, it’s really more glare that poses the problem more than ambient light. All of my systems look OUTSTANDING with even enough light to read by as long as that light does not glare on the screen. The same could be said for a regular TV for that matter.
Another issue of course is the bulb so you definitely want to take that into consideration before making the final decision on your pj. These days most pj’s will go at least 2000 – 3000 hours, if not more, and will last even longer if you use the proper shut down techniques when firing down your pj. I’ll gladly pay $300 or so every couple years for a nice big image.
Here’s a couple pj’s I can recommend. I wouldn’t go for the 1080p unless you HD DVD or Blue Ray, but 720p will look tremendous. Heck, even 480p in HD looks pretty darn good on a big screen. Here are a couple suggestions in both 480p and 720p to get you started and you shouldn’t pay more than $800 for any of them if you check the web. All will upscale the pic though to the highest resolution available.
