Sharp Notevision PG-M20X Projector max refresh?
Can anybdoy tell me if the Sharp Notevision PG-M20X Projector , which has a claimed VGA maximum vertical refresh rate of 200hz, will be able to display animations recorded at 200fps at their full rate? I know most DLP and LCD projctors are limited to 60hz , but this one seems different. Is the VGA signal synchrounous?

I would lean toward the old techie adage:
“One test is worth a week of reading.”
Yes the resolution at 640 x 480 has a possible refresh of 100.4Hz H & 200Hz V but the note on the specifications page states that temporary noise may be visible at frequencies above 100Hz.
Theoretically you should be able to get your animations very close to 200fps in real time but the vertical will still only show 100 due to the limitations. I don’t think the human eye will notice this and it should look good. That is only if your graphics card and computer are capable of the 200Hz refresh rate.
Too many “ifs” for a definitive answer, which brings us back to doing a test run. The VGA may not be synchronous depending on the speed and quality of the graphics adapter and the connection. A digital connection would be better S-Video as a start and DVI if possible. Sharp claims synchronous operation but the specificas seem vague. It looks like your best bet would be SVGA a @ 800 x 600 w/refresh of 125.6Hz Horiszontal & 200Hz Vertical.
You have to do a test to be sure.
