Can Sony Vegas Pro 9 use the video file m2ts?

m2ts is HD PVR video file.
Also What video files do the Dazzle Platinum and the Hava Monsoon HD Wireless use?
Do their video files work with Sony Vegas Pro 9?

Right, well the m2ts format is a little odd. Sony cameras generate a different type of m2ts file compared to, for instance, Panasonic or Canon cameras. These files are not entirely compatible.

Good news though: Sony Vegas 9 (and possibly 8.0b onwards) can import most versions of m2ts files, including those from Sony and Panasonic cameras. There is one wrinkle though. Rather than copy files directly from a camera’s hard drive (if it has one), it’s best to use the supplied software utility to copy the files across. The utility tends to tidy up the file headers so that they’re correct and Vegas can understand them properly. If you just copy the files over manually, then Vegas can sometimes have problems.

The Dazzle Platinum produces MPEG1, 2 and 4 files that work with Vegas although it’s always best to do a few import and export tests before relying on it for something vital. Pinnacle kit can be a little flaky sometimes. I’m afraid I don’t know anything about the Hava Monsoon though. Sorry.
