When getting the Gardasil shot, do you have to get the shots within a certain time frame?
I was told when I got mine that you had to get them within like three months or something… I was told that if you failed to get them within the certain time frame that you would have to start all over getting the series of shots BUT when my sister got her first Gardasil shot like a year ago, she went to the doctor today and told her that you didn’t have to get them within a certain time frame and went ahead and gave her the second shot… Does anyone know the actual truth?
The series is given in 3 injections over 6 months. The first dose is given on day 1, the next dose is given 2 months after the first and the third and final dose is given 6 months after the first one. Without the other two injections, the first one won’t work by itself. The doctor is incorrect.
Your sister will have to start over and this time she should make an appointment for the second dose before she leaves the doctor’s office. A notation on a calendar can remind her to schedule the last dose in 6 months. I don’t believe doctor’s offices make appointments that far out. I think 3 months is the limit.

Merck will email a reminder about the doses. Check it out and show your sister so this doesn’t happen to her again.
