What is Epson 3800 error code 1224?
Help! I turned on my Epson Stylus Pro 3800 and got lots of blinking red lights and the message “Service call error 1224″!
Can anyone tell me what this means? Is the sky falling? Can I fix it on my own, or will I have to sell the farm in order to buy a new printer?

According to Epson’s Service Manual:
There error code 1224 “out of sync” – The positioning error detected by the PF encoder fell outside the specified limits.
Three possible remedies:
1. Check that the PF timing belt is properly attached.
2. Check the PF timing belt’s tension (Correct it if not proper).
3. Replace the PF motor (MOTOR, RELEASE, ASSY). (how to do this is shown in the service manual)
Do you have a warranty? Even if you don’t, I’d try calling Epson Tech Support if you need further help/advice before giving up/taking the machine apart.
